With all kinds of amazing beauty treatments out there, it's difficult to tell what's really worth it. I've been using a combination of DIY and professional treatments for a long time now, so I want to share my thoughts on when you should save and when you should splurge.
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, nor should this be taken as medical advise. I am simply sharing my personal experiences.
I've seen dermatologists for acne and to get my moles checked. My dad had skin cancer so I've always gotten my moles checked annually. And it's the only reason I'd ever go to see a dermatologist now.
Seeing a doctor for acne made things worse because the products prescribed irritated my skin. In the end, getting to know you skin and it's needs is the best skincare advice.
I love getting a professional facial. But I don't recommend them too often. I go seasonally, or every three months. I find this is the right amount to make a difference in my skin without overdoing it.
Always. See. A. Professional. End of story.
This is one of the few times I really, truly believe in seeing a professional. Seeing a professional each month has helped tremendously with how my body feels. It's also wonderful for when I'm working out more than normal, or dealing with feelings of anxiety, stress, and overwhelm.
To maintain my body in between massages, I like to do lots of stretching and self massage. Each night I'll stretch for a good twenty minutes, and follow that with self massage. Using coconut oil, I simply massage my body, working from feet to my head. It helps give me all of the same benefits of a professional massage, but without the cost.
