I recently went back home to visit my family in North Carolina. Though I live in the big and beautiful city that is Toronto, there are some things NC has that TO does not.
Mainly, the Whole Foods in the States are so much better. They have a better selection, the people are friendlier, and they actually have a lot more options for people on a plant based, gluten free diet. The Whole Foods in Toronto are kind of just a big grocery store for people who want organic kale and grass fed steak.
But NC also has Targets. Toronto used to have them, before the company completely pulled out of Canada. Growing up I was never the biggest fan of Targets, but now I can't get enough of their interiors, their candles, their foods, everything. It's a one stop shop for all of my favourite things.
Let's get this beauty haul started!
Foaming Shaving Gel // Acure Organics
Acure just launched their new shaving gel, so of course I had to give it a go. It's supposed to be like the classic, foamy shaving gel, but I think it's a little more subtle.
It's got the foam and everything, it just isn't as foamy as the old fashioned, chemical filled stuff. But I'll take the natural option any day. Acure isn't in Canada yet, but I have heard whispers that they're working on it!
Cinnamon Chai Latte Soap // Acure Organics
I adore this stuff. It actually doesn't smell as strong as you'd think, which is probably a good thing. I know a lot of people who get headaches from overpowering scents.
With a natural, light scent, and a really lovely foamy wash, it's become my favourite soap. It lathers so well, without any gross chemicals. It's not really hydrating, but it doesn't strip my skin either, which I love.
Certified Organic Argan Oil // Acure Organics
I've been using Acure's argan oil for years. It's a classic, every day essential for my skin. I use it morning and night to hydrate and repair my skin.
Liquid Eyeliner in Black Pearl // ZuZu Luxe
I used to wear so much eye liner every day. But then I stopped wearing makeup altogether for a few years. And now that I'm testing the waters again, eye liner and lipsticks seem to scare me the most. But I've got to give them a go some time, so when I was down South I picked up this liquid eye liner. I'm hoping it'll help me get back into winged liner again!
Target Candles //
As mentioned above, I love Target's candles. They carry a few different brands, with a lot of soy options. I opted for two of the Signature Soy's candles.
I love the packaging; it's simple, but bright and colourful. The scents are also really intriguing, but I went with a classic, fresh Ocean Oasis. I also picked up a little Succulent candle. It doesn't really smell like succulents, instead it smells kind of fresh and earthy.
Candles // The Old Wilmington Candle Co.
I know I bought candles at Target, but when I visited downtown Wilmington I had to get some more. The Old WIlmington Candle Co offers soy candles in all kinds of sizes, with all kinds of natural, complex scents. I love that they offer candles special to North Carolina, with scents named after the local beaches and mountains.
The White Tea & Thyme one smells fresh and light, but also a bit herbal, and the Old North State smells kind of like pine trees and reminds me of the woods. The Nag Champa smells like standard incense, but my problem with incense is it's messy and doesn't last long, so I liked the candle option.
What do you think of my U.S beauty haul?
Until next time,
