Who is Joy McCarthy?
One of the things I love about Joy is her incredibly positive outlook on health and beauty. She really focuses on the benefits of eating natural, whole foods, and how joyous it can be, instead of treating health and wellness like a chore.
Her books have a lot of positive affirmations, and her Natural Beauty Guide* has an entire section on manifesting beauty and feeling beautiful.

What is the Natural Beauty Guide about?
The Natural Beauty Guide* is a 100% digital program that gives you the tools to detox your diet and personal care products naturally. As it's a digital program, you're also reducing paper waste and it allows you to take the guide on the go.
Joy walks you through how to manifest your beauty through positive thinking, banishing self talk, and encouraging self love.
She includes some foods to avoid and foods to eat more of to help your organs detox naturally, without harmful or restrictive diets.
The guide is written like a conversation or even a blog post. It's not preachy and it's really accessible. Joy breaks things down, advocating for finding a health and wellness program that fits your lifestyle. She also includes links for further reading to help you learn more.
Joy also discusses the personal care industry and how toxic it can be. To help you out, she includes 14 DIY beauty recipes, my favourite being a Calming Honey Mask.
If DIYs aren't your thing, Joy also carries a personal care line featuring products made with natural, simple ingredients.
What is Joyous Detox about?
Joyous Detox* is Joy's newest book. She walks you through her personal journey towards a natural, holistic lifestyle and goes in more depth about different foods, including some foods that really help your body detox naturally.
She also has a whole chapter on setting up your kitchen with the right ingredients and tools to help you get set up for success.
Just like the Natural Beauty Guide, the Joyous Detox contains so much information that's made simple and accessible. You won't need a science degree to understand everything because Joy breaks it all down for you.
She also includes meal plans, which I love. There's a 2 - Day Reboot Detox meal plan to get you right on track, followed by a 10 - Day Joyous Detox meal plan for both omnivores and vegans.
But she reminds you that this is your lifestyle, so you should customize if you need to. For example, avocados are featured in some recipes, but they give me a headache, so I'll be avoiding them. You have to always listen to your body first.
Oh! And there's 100 gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, detox-friendly recipes. So not only do you get all of this super helpful, easy to understand information about food, but you get meal plans and all of this yummy food inspiration.
I'm really excited to try her Best Ever Cinnamon Flaxseed Bread topped with Pecan Butter and Chia Jam. How delicious does that sound? The Daily Detox Zinger Elixir also sounds amazing, since I'm obsessed with really delicious and nutritious drinks.
There's so many different recipes to try and they all sound delicious. They're also really accessible, as they're not made with super fancy, expensive ingredients. Once again, Joy is great at making health and wellness simple and approachable.
