Pure + Simple does amazing work within the green beauty community by curating effective, natural beauty products, offering indulgent spa treatments without the conventional chemicals, and by sponsoring and hosting community events.
Last year they hosted the #SoFreshSoGreen event where they invited some of the up and coming Canadian green beauty entrepreneurs to showcase their products to the green beauty community across the GTA. I was lucky enough to attend and I can tell you it was one of my favourite beauty events.
Until this year.
This year Pure + Simple hosted their #FreshCanadianBrands17 event to feature female Canadian entrepreneurs in the green beauty industry.
We got to meet four different founders, learn about their stories, and sample their products. It was an amazing event, but it's not over yet! Read on until the end of this post to learn about how to get involved.
One of the reasons I love these events is because frankly, blogging can be isolating. While it's a highly collaborative gig, most of that collaboration isn't done face to face.
These events bring bloggers and brands together, giving us a chance to network and learn. It's also wonderful to meet the people behind the brands we love, as it helps us get to know each brand, their products, and why they do what they do.
This year's event was kicked off on July 10th, where myself and other creatives in the community were able to participate in a panel discussion on green beauty and female entrepreneurship.
We were able to hear the stories behind each brand, learn about their challenges, and hear how they persevered. It was an incredibly valuable experience and as a hopeful entrepreneur myself (does freelancing count?) it was really motivating.
We also got to enjoy the most delicious, nourishing teas from Miyu Teas & Beauty. I enjoyed a glass of their Hydrating Tea, a blend with green rooibos, goji berries, and rose. It's a blend I'm really exciting about incorporating into my days because we all know my skin could benefit from inner hydration!
This year there were four brands featured and I'm so excited to share each one with you!
I've always been interested in supplements, not necessarily as a quick fix, but as a way to ensure my body is as healthy as possible. Cydney Mar has worked with a naturopath to develop a line of supplement blends to support you in your health journey. Her feature product is her Beautiful Skin, Hair, & Nails blend that I'm so excited to try!
Learn more about Cydney here.
Bella Aura is really unique because instead of different lines for different skin types, which can be confusing, they've got a line of just five products for all skin types. Their goal is to create natural blends of traditional and modern ingredients with new technology to create skincare products that are really something special.
Sahajan is based on Ayurveda, which I've always been curious about. While based on an ancient practice, they've used clinical trials to prove how effective their skincare products are. The founder, Lisa, gave a lot of insight and it was a joy to get to know the how and why behind this line!
I met Mia last year and it was so nice to see her again. You all know how much I adore her skincare line.
Sattva Pure has formulated some of the best products. The products are formulated with natural ingredients that are often organic. The products are effective and they balance your skin, reduce inflammation and breakouts, and soothe skin, all at once.
The panel discussion was really informative and it was really interesting to hear the behind the scenes info we don't always get to hear, and to connect with these founders face to face!
We got to hear about how Cydney Mar believes sustainability starts at home, and that we should all do the best we can to reduce our environmental footprint and adopt sustainable lifestyle habits.
Lisa from Sahajan told us about the time her product formulation was taken from her, and the legal action she took to get it back (spoiler alert: it all worked out!)
And we got to hear how Mia is working to source ingredients as locally as possible, and as organic as possible. Did you know that there are some ingredients in her products that are organic, but aren't labeled as such?
There are still events going on so you still have time to meet these amazing women and sample their products! Pure + Simple is hosting each founder for a whole week at different locations. You can find the dates and times here.
Before I go I just want to say a big thank you to Pure + Simple for hosting such a fun event, and for all of the founders for taking the time to share their stories and products with us!
