I've wanted to chat about oil cleansing for a really long time, so I've finally put together a three part series. Today I'll introduce this unique skincare method, and parts two and three will cover oils, DIY recipes, and store bought options.
I first discovered this method of skin care two years ago, when I started to embrace natural beauty products.
This method helped to normalize my skin, deal with my acne, and fade my acne scars. I'm hoping it'll be able to help you too!
What is Oil Cleansing?
Oil cleansing is a type of skincare. It's a very simple method that allows you to remove makeup, cleanse, and moisturize your skin all in one go.
You simply massage the oils into your skin for two minutes. Leave the oils to rest on your skin for 30 seconds. Place a hot wash cloth over your face for 30 seconds. Then gently press the towel onto your face and hang to dry.
Why Should I Oil Cleanse?
Our skin creates an oil of it's own, called sebum. When we use harsh cleansers and beauty products, our skin is stripped of it's natural sebum. So our skin goes into power mode and produces way more than we need. Then we get clogged pores, possibly some acne, our skin looks a bit dull, and it generally doesn't look it's best.
But when we use high quality oils on our skin, it allows our skin to normalize itself. Instead of producing too much or too little, our skin is able to produce just the right amount.
Not to mention that these oils are packed with goodness. Different oils have different benefits, and we'll get to that later, but quality oils are great for intensely nourishing your skin.
So now that I've introduced the oil cleansing method, what are your thoughts? Have you tried it before? Are you interested in trying it? Let me know!
In my next post I'm going to share my tried and true oils, DIY recipes, and store bought options!
Until next time,
