Instead of an updated Summer skincare routine (don't worry, there will be an updated routine soon!) I've decided to write about my current facial routine. While I've shared how I do a weekly facial at home, the masks and products change with the seasons.
In the Summer, I want more uplifting products that are going to hydrate without being heavy. I also like to incorporate more acne products, which I'll get to in another post.
I'm still using (and loving) the Sattva Pure Nourish & Protect Cream Cleanser* to wash the day away and start fresh. This cleanser is creamy, but still light, and it offers light exfoliation from pineapple enzymes. I wash away with a linen cloth that also works to exfoliate my skin.
For a thorough exfoliation, I've been loving the Meow Meow Tweet Face Exfoliant*. Made with oats and ground walnuts, this exfoliant is really effective without being abrasive. Instead of scrubbing my skin, I very lightly move the exfoliant in circles around my face for around two minutes. I find going longer, but with a lighter touch is more effective and it's better for sensitive skin. I've also been using this twice a week, which has been really helpful in improving my skin's texture.
Steaming is my favourite part of this process. If you're new to face steams, you can learn all about them here.
In the Summer, I like to take advantage of all of the fresh fruit. I save orange, grapefruit, and lemon peels for face steams because they smell amazing, but they also add uplifting, refreshing properties to the steam. My skin adores it.
I'll also add calendula and chamomile herbs to calm and soothe my skin. I find essential oils like lavender, lemon, and even tea tree are also great additions as the weather warms up and my skin needs acne support.
I've been loving the cocokind Organic Chlorophyll Mask lately, as it's incredibly nourishing. It helps to brighten, improve texture, and nourish my skin so it's more balanced. I like mixing it with the Meow Meow Tweet Face Mask or the Sattva Pure Pure Glow Hydrating Masque, depending on how my skin is feeling.
