With Summer just around the corner, it's time to start preparing our skin. In the Winter, you'll want to add some luxurious moisturizing balms and stock up on hydrating masks.
But in the Summer, it's all about lightening up the routine, staying hydrating, and protecting your skin. Here are 5 simple tips for keeping your skin happy all Summer long.
1. Stay Hydrated
Hydration is so important for your entire well being, but also for your skin. Your skin is made up of cells, just like the rest of your body. Those cells need water to function properly. Without proper hydration, your skin can become dry, tight, and even flaky.
The easiest way to stay hydrated is to carry a water bottle. Not only will your skin stay hydrated, but you'll be reducing waste!
Another way to stay hydrated is to use hydrating, soothing toners throughout the day. My favourite is the Andalou Naturals Blossom + Leaf Toning Refresher. You can use it throughout the day, even with makeup, to instantly refresh and hydrate your skin.
2. Lighten Your Skincare Routine
Instead of opting for thick moisturizer, chose lighter options. You don't want to weigh your skin down with lots of heavy products, especially when it's so hot outside.
3. Cleanse Thoroughly
When the weather warms up, many of us tend to spend more time outdoors. It's great for our health, but it means we're moving around more and working up a sweat. That's why it's so important to properly cleanse your skin.
You want to remove all of the dirt, sweat, and makeup from your skin each night. It will help prep your skin for the rest of your routine, but most importantly, it'll keep your skin clean and blemish free.
If you need something heavier than a foaming cleanser, opt for a light and creamy cleanser. My favourite is the Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk.
It's so important to protect your skin year round, but especially in the Summer. I use an SPF cream all year on my face. But in the Summer I start to carry around a body SPF as well.
My favourite facial SPF cream is the 100% Pure Argan Oil Facial Moisturizer SPF 30. For the rest of my body, I use the Badger Baby Sunscreen SPF 30. It's very gentle and soothing, but it's also really hydrating.
Instead of opting for thick, hydrating masks, I like to lighten things up.
